Night in the hallway. Part 1
“Arh!!!” a scream raced through the hallway of Sakuban high school. The highest point of the clock rang fear to students doing the most dreaded detention, mid-night patrol. Cloudy dark sky, ranging thunder and rain drops splatter onto the glass window plane adds on to the uneasy atmosphere. The girl raced through the hallway with her heart beating with horror and the next morning, her face was as pale as a white cloud. This made detention extreme successful in punishing students who did not do their assignments. Even the bravest could not withstand the torment of the school in the night.
That was what I heard when I was looking for a job as a teacher in my neighborhood. Unsurprising, it’s a girl’s school and the only male teacher, let alone the youngest teacher at the age of 20 in Sakuban. Stepping inside is always a challenge as stares will be laid onto me without even doing anything right or wrong. I was a hall room teacher at class 1-3 and of course without a doubt, misinterpretations happened on my first day.
I taught the class modern history and English (as the second language) as both are my favorite subjects. Apparently the class failed at it, badly. The hates of olden days and the ABCs of words stung them in their heart and struggling to learn makes me feel motivated.
As days past by, weeks and months, it’s November. I was told by another teacher whom relayed the message from the headmaster, saying that I have been to assign to patrol the hallway. This stung my heart as I heard the story of the hallway but I question myself; it could be fake to trick the teachers or several other possible reasons and so why worry? I gave the green light to patrol the hallway on that day.
To be continued...
